NEW!
SharePoint for Project Management: How to Create a Project Management Information System (PMIS) with SharePoint by Dux Raymond Sy will be available in October 2008 according to Amazon. O'Reilly asked me to be the technical editor for the SharePoint aspects of the book (other editors were brought on board to address the project management elements). While most SharePoint books (including mine) focus on the nuts and bolts of SharePoint, Sy's book shows you how to use the technology for a specific set of goals. Look for the book this coming fall.
MCTS: Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Configuration Study Guide (70-630) is now available. The book description says, This comprehensive book will guide readers through Microsoft's brand new MCTS: Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Configuring exam. This study guide will be complete with...exam objectives, real world scenarios, hands-on exercises, and challenging review questions, both in the book and on the CD. In addition, there will be a complete instructor support package made available to training centers and schools who will use this book in their classroom. Find out more at Amazon.com.
I recently got an email from someone who shared her honest comments about both of my SharePoint books:
I am a programmer/DBA and used The Definitive Guide to learn Sharepoint on my new job. When I received the MCTS book, I was very glad to see you were the writer and knew I was almost ready for the exam when I viewed the table of exercises (I was a bit intimidated by the audience profile description on the microsoft site). Within a few days I was ready to take the exam and passed with flying colors!
So I just wanted to say thanks very much for writing these great books, they have been invaluable these last few months, and my boss is happy with the knowledge Ive gained in a short time.
